my current favorites- vintage library design

Creating a vintage Parisian library is something we would love to perform at our firm. We created a moodboard or an idea some would say of my current favorites that we would use to design this space.

One of the key elements we had to start with was of course herringbone flooring. It was almost a must when creating this library/office space. We then wanted to narrow down the star of the show which were the bookcases. We wanted something classic and worn out almost. I came across this Theodore Alexander Country House Bookcase and immediately fell in love. To then add some more culture to it we sourced this Latitude wall covering from Kravet.

Finding a door to fit the theme was almost effortless. I knew I wanted it to incorporate an arch so we found exactly that. The space around it almost felt like it was missing something so we knew we needed a filler moment with a floor lamp from Arhaus. This delicate crystal piece was everything when mixing an old and new vibe together.

The next part was picking a desk and chair to tie it all together. I wanted something among a wood grain to tie it all together but had to be careful with the flooring and bookcase colors. We ended up going with this lighter colored one from Kathy Kuo Home and it worked perfectly. Although the bookcase was a focal point the chair for the desk had to be as well. The chair we went with was a perfect moment to create such a French look. It is an antique French Louis XVI painted armchair with Needlepoint tapestry.

Since this was a reading room we also wanted to create a lounge moment. I wanted a statement piece where someone could ideally pick out a book and take a seat somewhere. Not just at a desk but something comfortable yet also iconic. This accent chair was designed by Oscar Niemeyer and fit perfectly into our board. It was so much fun creating such an inspiration. Nazeli Design cannot wait to bring this idea to life one day.
